I felt weird posting travel photos with so much going on in my life, so I’ve been pretty quiet on social media this summer… I started the summer moving to San Francisco, starting the job hunt. Went through some intense interview processes (ask me about my 5+ hour interviews!) while looking for a place to live. Found a great community to live in temporarily and after a lot of work, got an amazing offer to work at Adobe in mid August! Hurricane Harvey hit the weekend before I was supposed to start work and kept me up late worrying about family and friends. I started my job Aug 28 which is going really well, and have thankfully found a more permanent apartment here in SF, which starts today!

Throughout all this, I also found out my amazing Grandma Joy had been diagnosed with cancer (again!) and tried to fly to Toronto to visit as often as I could. My grandma passed on August 30th, two weeks after we celebrated her 84th birthday together in the hospital in Toronto. SO many people showed up to her memorial last Friday, it was truly a sight to see. It started raining when we arrived at the cemetery and then, just like in the movies, the clouds cleared and sun beams warmed our faces as we remembered her. As a former librarian, my Gramma Joy inspired my love for reading and writing. I’m so happy I get to hang on to her copies of Dickens and Shakespeare, compete with her margin notes and underlines.❤️ We found this photo of her from 1955 and thought it was so special. I’ll miss her witty words and endless encouragement dearly. ❤️❤️ So things are settling down over here, but that’s a lot of “real life” for one summer.
