My tour guide at the Shwedagon Pagoda showed me where to give a donation so you’ll get a piece of gold leaf. You then put it on the Buddha and the people slowly contribute to the restoration of the pagoda! You need to cover your shoulders and knees, so I’m wearing some pants I bought in Thailand. ? I skipped on the traditional backpacker “elephant” pants and got some pretty purple ones instead. .
