Yesterday I went to the Sumpango Kite Festival here in Guatemala which started as a way to scare off spirits on Dia de los Muertos? Guatemalans spend countless hours building these giant, colorful kites made of tissue paper and bamboo. In the afternoon, they begin attempting to fly them!! The crowd rushes to clear a space as many of the kites come crashing to the ground. ?
